Joshua and his wife, Mindy, co-founded Encore! Theatre Arts, a successful and award-winning theatre company in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Joshua has directed 25 productions with Encore! and over 30 more with other theatre companies. Joshua has written five plays, all of which are comedies and have been produced by Encore! Theatre Arts as well as Tulsa Spotlight Theatre. He has a selection of plays that he is currently adapting into a seven-part book series.

Joshua began his directing career at a young age, starting with his antics in his backyard and on the school playground. At the age of 18, he began directing productions at local theatres, which eventually led to the founding of Encore! Theatre Arts. He has directed nearly 60 productions, including The Lost Pages of Cinderella, The Lost Pages of Snow White, The Lost Pages of Oz, Wait Until Dark, Steel Magnolias, A Christmas Story, Narnia, Peter Pan, Jungle Book, Fame, Alice in Wonderland, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Little Women.

Since he was 7 years old, Joshua has impersonated his favorite film and television actors. When he was a child, he acted out his favorite movies and performed scenes for his friends and family. His early influences included Home Alone and Harry and the Hendersons, but most of all, In Living Color. His childhood inspiration was Jim Carrey, whose characters Joshua impersonated on a regular basis: Fire Marshall Bill, Ace Ventura, and eventually The Grinch, along with many others. In addition to Jim Carrey characters, Joshua can impersonate over 30 other characters and public figures, and has developed his own unique voices and characters.

"I married my wife, Mindy Barker, on May 11, 2007. When I was 18, we met at a community theatre in Tulsa, Oklahoma where we eventually married. We have a special relationship. Onstage, I have killed my wife (Narnia: Aslan & White Witch), tortured my wife (Wait Until Dark: Roat & Susy), been terrified of my wife (Wizard of Oz: Cowardly Lion & Wicked Witch), pursued my wife (Cinderella: Prince Charming & Cinderella), and been married to my wife (Christmas Story: Father & Mother). Offstage, I love her!" -Joshua
